Abstract
It is important for physical therapists to recognized and understand CFS. Because of its chronicity, more and more patients will be seeking these services over time. Until a greater majority of the medical community become aware of CFS, patients can be referred with vague diagnoses. Physical therapists often have more time to spend with their patients than other medical practitioners, and therefore may project a supportive enviomment upon which the CFS patient can build their recovery process. With a thorough evaluation, and a structured, supervised exercise program, the patients will have a far greater chance of avoiding the scqualae of this chronic illness.
