Abstract
Pillared interlayered clays have been prepared from Bentonite clay by reacting with zirconyl chloride solution. These new adsorbents have been characterized by adsorption isotherms, x-ray diffraction, and the diffusivities of probe molecules into these adsorbents. Using the sorbent, the separations of air, N2/CH4, C6H6/-C6H14, CH4/CO2, and the C8 aromatic isomers have been accomplished by equilibrium and/or kinetic separations via chromatography.
