abstract = "Seismic isolation systems, comprising isolators and damping devices, can be installed below the basemat and above the foundation of an advanced nuclear reactor building to reduce accelerations and deformations on structures, systems, and components (SSCs). Many choices are available for selecting the components of a seismic isolation system. Numerical models of seven isolation systems, implemented in an archetype reactor building, are used to compare available isolation-system options in terms of key response parameters that may influence the selection of one system over another. The information presented in this paper should be useful to analysts and designers tasked with choosing one (or more) seismic isolation systems for a nuclear power plant. Cost is not addressed.",
