Abstract
This review of the 1994 literature summarizes analytical techniques for the determination of chemical species in natural waters, wastewater, and drinking water. The emphasis is on chemical species of interest to environmental professionals. The review is organized into four main sections. The first section describes New Chemical Methods for determination of aqueous pollutants, whereas the second section describes New Biological Methods. Sample Preparation and Data Analysis techniques are summarized in the third section. The fourth section, New Applications, groups analytical methods into the same categories as found in Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater and discusses new variations for the determination of specific analytes. As much as possible, within each section similar analytes were grouped together in alphabetical order. Review articles were included in the text in the appropriate sections; for example, a review of mass spectrometric techniques is located in the section on mass spectrometry.
