Abstract
Using a combination of mild acid hydrolysis, ion-exchange chromatography on Dowex resins, and Smith periodate oxidation with sodium borotritide, the sulphated mono-saccharide of monkey salivary mucin was identified as glucosamine-4-sulphate.
