Abstract
Cement-matrix composites for smart structures are reviewed. The functions include strain sensing, damage sensing, temperature sensing, thermoelectricity, vibration reduction and radio wave reflection. The functions are rendered by the use of admixtures, such as short carbon fibers, short steel fibers and silica fume.
