Abstract
Based on the results of a large, observational study of 50- to 79-year-old postmenopausal women with hypertension (Women's Health initiative Observational Study), we found that patients taking calcium channel blockers combined with diuretics had a higher risk of cardiovascular mortality than patients taking angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors plus diuretics or beta blocking agents plus diuretics.
