Abstract
The superior resistance to infection of a well-perfused tissue such as the musculocutaneous (MC) flap has been well demonstrated clinically and experimentally. The exact nature of this resistance to infection has yet to be defined. Two aspects of resistance to infection were studied in dogs in a well-perfused (MC) flap raised next to an ischemic random pattern (RP) flap: Leukocyte mobilization and blood flow changes after infection.
