Abstract
This report focuses on active control. It presents an overview of some of the basic active control concepts as applied to civil engineering structures, and provides examples of current full-scale application of the technology. Also included are some unique requirements and challenges of civil engineering structural control, and some important design considerations related to implementation of this technology to actual structures. An attempt is made to identify areas of future research needs.
