Abstract

Identity verification becomes a challenging task wizen it has to be automated with high accuracy and nonrepudiabili~. Existing automatic verification methods such as passwords and credit cards are vulnerable to misuse and fraud. Automated biometrics-based attthentication methods soh, e these problems by providing a strong guarantee of the user's identity: In this tutorial, we present an overview of the fast-developing and excithzg area of automated biometrics. Several popular biometrics including fingerprint, face and iris are reviewed, and an introduction to accuracy evaluation methods is presented.
