Abstract
A sensitive and specific fluorometric high pressure liquid chromatography technique was used to measure propranolol concentrations in the plasma of three healthy volunteers following an oral 10 mg dose of propranolol hydrochloride. Peak propranolol concentrations were 6 to 8 ng/ml and half-lives ranged from 2.5 to 5.6 hours. The threshold concept for hepatic uptake of oral propranolol is less marked than previously reported.
