Abstract

This paper studies an incoherent receiver for a new class of multicarrier waveforms utilizing frequencies spaced according to a Golomb ruler after a logarithmic warping of the frequency axis. This mapping preserves the Golomb ruler's autocorrelation and gives the waveform Doppler detection capability. The receiver uses a running Chirp Z-Transform followed by squaring, frequency warping and matched filtering in the warped frequency domain to detect the incoming waveform. Noise and interference between the Doppler shifted warped frequency domain ruler elements are suppressed via a bank of bandpass filters. This paper gives an example of these waveforms, derives the optimal detector, illustrates its performance, and exhibits the receiver's ambiguity function.
