Abstract
Discusses application of a vertical length scale to develop a set of transformed equations to describe the turbulent buoyant jet (momentum and buoyancy expressions). Examines the eddy viscosity approximation and presents expressions for the pure jet and pure plume solutions. Obtains a perturbation solution for one buoyant jet in the near jet flow field and compares analytical and perturbation solutions for the centreline temperature and velocity. Develops a composite formulation which suitably controls the vehicle coordinate term and compares numerical calculations of centreline temperature and velocity with experimental data. Profile shapes appear weakly dependent on buoyancy. (C.J.U.)
