Abstract

The heuristic, signal-dependent algorithm was devised and shown to be repeatable on experimental data, particularly when the data were compared to other signals to which the algorithm was applied, using similar AC criteria for encapsulation. Furthermore, it was determined that modifiability was necessary. The repeatability of the amplitude and duration thresholds chosen indicated that using signal-dependent characteristics was viable for determining appropriate thresholds. The duration threshold permitted the algorithm to bypass spikes that were either signal artifact or too quick or too far from the major activity to contribute to force generation.
