Abstract

Description of the results of a study involving theoretical and experimental considerations of processing steps, antireflection coatings, and contact design to fabricate an efficient and economical Schottky barrier solar cell (SBSC). It is shown that the use of TiO//2 and SiO antireflection coatings can increase short-circuit current by 80-90%. Contact design has been optimized to maximize power output using properly spaced, highly conducting current collecting fingers. The transition metals Cr, Mo, and Nb have produced good photovoltaic results when used as the Schottky barrier metal.
