Abstract

Owing to the high frequency and serious nature of cystic fibrosis, the development of targeted therapies for the management of this disease has been an active area of research (Online access: http://www.cmeelsevier.com/554). Pharmaceuticals have recently been designed which specifically target patients with certain genetic cystic fibrosis indicators allowing for a greater number of treatment options and a more individualized approach to disease management.It is critical that clinicians are educated about personalized genome-based medicine to better understand exactly how these agents work and the expected clinical outcomes, especially as our understanding of cystic fibrosis pathogenesis evolves. This CME activity promotes individualized, patient-centered cystic fibrosis management plans with the goals of improving performance and optimizing patient outcomes by gathering expertise from a multidisciplinary, interactive panel of healthcare professionals that specialize in the care of cystic fibrosis patients.This CME Multimedia Activity is also available through the website of the Journal of Cystic Fibrosis (. http://www.cysticfibrosisjournal.com/).
