Adolescent dating violence on school campuses

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapterpeer-review

Abstract

This paper reviews the adolescent dating violence literature in order to synthesize the risk factors that are associated with dating violence in school-aged adolescents. A review of the adolescent dating violence literature indicates that risk factors occur in three domains: Individual, familial and societal. Research has shown that up to 43% of students report dating violence occurring on school grounds. School social workers and other school personnel must develop intervention programs based on empirical evidence to prevent adolescent dating violence on school campuses. in addition, schools must implement policies to protect victims from such violence.
