Abstract
Laser materials with a broad emission band have been intensively investigated for application in diode-pumped ultrashort pulse lasers. An oxide crystal with a disordered structure, which has been found to be efficient for Q-switching, is investigated. The oscillation of an actively mode-locked laser with low-power diode pumping is demonstrated.
