This paper presents results of an experimental study done using a carefully scaled model structure and a shaking table, for the verification of implementability of active control to buildings. The structure, a 1:4 scaled model of a three story building, was actively controlled using pretensioning diagonal tendons placed in its side frames. The system was tested using simulated random motion and a past record accelerogram. The actual performance of the controlled system, the required resources to produce the control and the expected response in the prototype structure are presented herein.
