Abstract
A transient technique has been developed for measuring effective diffusion coefficients of gases in porous materials. The technique is appropriate for measuring De in the range of 10-2 to 10-8 cm2/s. Comparisons between this technique and other techniques are discussed. Diffusion of two binary gaseous systems in a nuclear graphite and in a bituminous coal has been studied with this technique.
