Abstract

A method based on the psychophysical method of constants was devised to provide a rapid and inexpensive way of evaluating handle designs. It was found that a causes a box held with that handle to feel heavier than a box with a better handle. The method proved sensitive enough to give significant results with only six subjects. Method validity was tested by comparing results of parametric handle studies with previous data: all comparisons showed the method to be valid.
