Abstract
Euclidean quantum electrodynamics in the Feynman gauge is considered in dimensions d≥2 with an ultraviolet cutoff and large fermion mass. The fermions are integrated out giving an effective photon interaction. For this interaction a complete renormalization group analysis is given and it is shown that the flow of the effective interactions is toward a free photon field (infrared asymptotic freedom). This result is a special case of a general method for gauge invariant perturbations of the free photon field.
