Abstract
A filter model consisting of a random distribution fibres is proposed to account for nonuniform fibre spacings in a real filter. The averae pressure drop cross this filter is determined based upon a random cell model of hydrodynamics. The results are favourbly compared with existing experimental data. The computation is also extended to the slip flow regime where the Knudsen number is not negligible. (A)
