Abstract
A filter model consisting of a random distribution of parallel fibres is proposed to account for nonuniform fibre spacings in a real filter. The average pressure drop across this filter is determined based upon a random cell model of hydrodynamics. The results are favourably compared with existing experimental data. The computation is also extended to the slipis not negligible. (A)
