Abstract
The trianion of 3-(β-indolyl)-propionic acid was condensed with diethyl oxalate to give ethyl 4-(β-indolyl)-2-ketobutyrate which, upon coupling with various dipeptides, gave potent angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors.
