Abstract
IIR-like filter blocks in cascade offer an efficient alternative for generating narrow transition-band linear-phase FIR filters. However, the round-off noise generated in these structures poses a serious limitation to the applicability of the design. This paper presents a decomposition technique applied to the aforementioned structures. The technique will be shown not only to alleviate the roundoff noise, but also to lead to more compact realizations.
