A CASE STUDY IN ORGANIZATIONAL PARTNERSHIP: LESSONS FROM CROSS-SECTOR COLLABORATION TO ADDRESS LGBTQ AGING

Purposeful collaboration among community organizations may have the capacity to lessen barriers experienced by lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer (LGBTQ) seniors and address knowledge deficits about LGBTQ aging issues among community organizations. However, little research currently exists examining the development and implementation of organizational collaborations to address these issues. In response to this gap in the literature, this case study explores how community organizations partner to meet the needs of the LGBTQ seniors they serve. Findings from qualitative interviews with 19 organizational leaders offer a common set of strategies and challenges for community collaborations with regard to outreach and programming for LGBTQ seniors.
